Italy's Rome may start rationing water supply due to prolonged drought People living in Rome, Italy's capital, may start having their water supply rationed to deal with a prolonged drought that has hit much of the country. The region says it needs to stop using water from a lake north of the capital because its levels are dangerously low. Lake Bracciano provides some of Rome's water supply. There could be staggered supply shutdowns in different Rome neighbourhoods for eight hours a day, starting from this weekend. How guys survive when there is water shortage.
Water crisis continues to grip Cape Town, which is set to become the first major world metropolitan to run out of water if stringent water measures that have been put in place from today at only 50 litres of water per person per day come into effect. The city is desperate to avoid what is called day zero, or the day taps will run dry and 4 million people will have to stand in lines to get just 25 litres of water per person per day. Nairobi residents have had to contend with the biting water shortage occasioned by the rationing that was introduced in January of this year. Most parts of the city have not seen a drop of water for days if not weeks, since the Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company started scaling the precious commodity. But for residents of Kahawa West, their taps have been dry for months now. And as Gladys Gachanja tells us, they are scared of the situation boiling out of control.
A drought in Venezuela's capital Caracas has led the government to start rationing water for at least four months. It could leave some of the city's seven million people without water for up to three days a week. The rationing comes as Venezuela grapples with anti-government protest and a shortage of basic goods. Al Jazeera's Alessandro Rampietti reports.
Originally published on February 25, 2014 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Malaysian officials are planning to ration water in the Selangor region as a solution to the water crisis. Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim announced the measure yesterday (February 24), adding that the move would affect residents statewide. The measure allows the state government to channel water directly to areas severely affected by the water crisis since Feb. 7, such as Bukit Tampoi in Dengkil and Cheras Batu 11, Khalid said. "We have divided the areas into two zones. Water will be pumped into Zone One for two days before we channel it to Zone Two for another two days, and vice-versa. This is to ensure that no area will have to go with...

In just five decades, Singapore has overcome water shortages despite its lack of natural water resources and pollution in its rivers. Driven by a vision of what it takes to be sustainable in water, Singapore has been investing in research and technology. Today, the nation has built a robust, diversified and sustainable water supply from four different sources known as the Four National Taps (water from local catchment areas, imported water, reclaimed water known as NEWater and desalinated water). By integrating the system and maximising the efficiency of each of the four taps, Singapore has ensured a stable, sustainable water supply capable of catering to the country’s continued growth. The city said Sunday, South Africa's police and military will help secure water collection sites in drought-stricken Cape Town if authorities must turn off most taps on what they call "Day Zero." The date is currently projected to fall in the first half of April. H Unicipal authorities said hospitals, key economic and industrial areas and densely populated areas with a higher risk of disease would be exempt from a water cut-off. They plan to open a disaster operations center on Monday to prepare for a possible closure of taps in a city known internationally for its natural beauty and tourist attractions. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/drought-hit-cape-town-set-disaster-operations-hq-amid-water-n841786?cid=public-rss_20180128 http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit N...

Penang will continue to take tough measures to guarantee there will be no water rationing, and investors are assured of a continuous water supply.
Nairobi residents will be subjected to water rationing from January 2017 as water levels in the main source, Ndakaini Dam have dropped below the anticipated water levels required to sustain Nairobians for the next three months especially during a dry season. This comes after the failed rains which the Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company says have reduced the water levels to almost half of normal capacity. Ndakaini dam which supplies 85 percent of the water to Nairobi, currently has a capacity of 32.7 million cubic meters of water compared to its capacity of 70 million cubic meters. Governor Brown recently mandated that California reduce it's water use by 25% and the Scotts Valley & SLV Water District GM's meet in this video interview to discuss what it means and how they plan on enforcing the rationing to residents. In this interview, SV's Piret Harmon and SLV's Brian Lee meet with MSV Publisher, Robert Aldana to discuss what the changes will mean and what the consequences are for those violating the water rationing order. SV & SLV are allowing the following days for irrigation: *Homes with even # address: Saturday and Tuesday. *Homes with odd # addresses: Sunday and Wednesday. **NO IRRIGATION WATERING Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays. **Vegetation that is grown for human consumption is exempt from this order but residents are asked to use only what is needed for s...
This is the second half of the meeting. The San Gabriel County Water District is telling us that we have so little water that residents are being forced to ration their water allocation. 100% of San Gabriel's water comes from ground water and instead of drilling for more water they have decided it would be best to gouge the residents and ration the water and have any extra water that is needed be imported in. The San Gabriel Energy Action plan specifically states that one of the goals of the city is to reduce water yet here they are proposing bringing in more water at extremely expensive prices. At the same time the city is approving the building of large apartment buildings and the residents were able to see the obvious hypocrisy. I have not done much research on this however what ...
